instead of trying something abstract, try something symmetrical first. Build it up from the ground and let it flow naturally outwards and upwards. its how i do a decent bit of my own designs and it works well for learning. You should wait until you've done a bit more before truly tackling a sculpture of Liasha's magnitude.

Dodo.. you should see what I have done now. :) Thanks for the advice. Be assured lol I was not attempting something like what Liasha did.. just trying to follow her advice to add a sculpture of any kind to the middle. I am enjoying learning this flowing style and it's getting much easier. I have changed it a lot and am learning very rapidly. Symmetrical would seem a little boring to me. At first it was so confusing.. but it's going better now and I'm getting it more centered. In fact, it's going to be more organic. It looks like flower petals now.

I am also changing out the materials.. using either logs and wood or logs and leaves. A360 and I discussed how organic it's gotten. I prefer organic materials over iron and gold. I've never yet used either of those as building materials. In the picture one of those leaves looks flat... I need to bend it backward some.. but I am in love with this kind of work! Curves + MC = tons of fun!

XD Good. I lack the general artistic skill to do much beyond complex patterns. My only organic skill comes in terraforming to which I am extremely good. In most of my other servers, I was a terraformer primarily and a redstoner secondarily. my worst skill is in structure. XD But I'm still a good builder. For me, I find comfort in crafting mountains, valleys, rivers, desert oasis' caverns, etc. I get the same kind of excited over a landscape that you get over building. Sadly, I cant get Voxelsniper without getting architect, and I cant get architect because I cant spend the time required for the position on the server, nor are my builds that good.

Aww... I am not so good at terraforming. But you know building is a skill you can learn. :) I didn't start out great. If you ever want to try a project, I'll help. :) (As long as it's not in the plotworld... there I could only advise you.)

XD Well my skills dont fit well with building. Im either too natural in that i love ebb and flow, or too procedural as with redstone. Architecture is too well grounded and too stable for me to enjoy as much as I do terraforming. Half the fun of Terraforming for me is the chance of complete and utter failure. That thrill of something i can barely reverse is part of the reason I enjoy it. Same with redstone. One mistake and i could spend hours reviewing wiring to fix it.

Well since this a Greek kind of build I would suggest if your stuck on your centerpiece adding a sculpture of The Famous David or you could put Prometheus holding up the Atlas? These are just some suggestions that might go well with the Greek style. Other than that keep up with the good work it is looking awesome!

You sound like my building friend Nate. He's epic with terraforming with W E and redstone... though he's good at building too..phenomenal in fact...which I say is absolutely unfair. :)

A360 suggested changing to more natural materials. I was so glad cause I don't like buidlig with gold or iron. I love this! Have plans for one more leaf and something in the middle.

A man after my own heart, i was originally a terraformer although redstone above a simple T flip flop baffles me :S. Anyways i would be happy to help you with building stuff if you like, although I only started being a builder when i joined this server :p, amazing how fast you can learn on here if you actually listen to people (unlike some of our guests nowadays T_T).

lol. yeah. Ive learned alot both by asking for advice on how to improve my builds, by experimenting with designs i see on FyreUKs videos, and by taking patterns, styles, and tricks from other builds all around the worlds on shadecrest. I guess monkey see, monkey do, eh? XD My problem is that I spent so much time terraforming, i was an expert terraformer with almost no skill building before i came to Shadecrest. I even crafted the majority of the map from the Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time on my own server which has since gone offline. Obsession with tolkein and paolini elves leads to very natural builds, usually small and unobtrusive, blending in with the environment. I didn't start making things big and obvious until after I came to Shadecrest.

[IMG] So .. I need a few more leaves...and then I really ought to leave well enough alone before I ruin it. :p

And yes.. I've been a picture taking fool since coming to Shadecrest. xD I toured iwilleatyou4's builds and learned so much! :) Thanks Iwill <3

Sigh.. I am starting to think a giant tulip is out of place in this building lol.. one thing leads to another but not necessarily where you want to go.

Gosh it wouldn't fit. lol It's pretty massive right now. You could fit probably 5 MC people in that flower bud. :) Thanks guys. I was feeling nervous about it.

Haha, I mean the whole structure, not just the flower itself, that is large enough. xD

ACtually you are right about that. It's pretty big but not like most of the server builds. But a360 advised me on how to at least expand.. around it. Gurra moved the flower out. It's now in the desert... in the center of what will be a small city...which puts me back to square on what to put in the temple. :) I've added arches between the pillars and am now adding big pillars outside of it. It's hard to explain but I've got a plan. xD
