  1. Is the creative server really dying? I haven't played on much since I'm like the only one or me and 4 people. What happen to the 20's of players? There use to be a steady flow of 17-32 players on there since I remember. It was popular. And its like in a recession or something:(. Dying as in (a very minute amount of people, leading no-one online)

Kinda hard for a dead thing to die more. Unless it's a zombie. A server can't be a zombie, though.

Aww, it'll be fine. Just give him a shock and you've got the same ol' guy. Might have to mind the new fashion though.

    As for the original topic.

You're more likely to sign in to a server if you see 17 people online, and this is what helps grow a server. If someone sees 2 people online, then they'll search for a more populated one, which then contributes to the 2 people online problem.

It's an annoying cycle, and one that I'm not sure how to get the server out of. Unless (and Ik we had this before), there was a free build world for B1 and up. Stuff like that lends to more creative spontaneity, such as back when I was a B1 on the server, and Sioutdoors WE'd in a small island, and got everyone to make a house on it for fun. Plots tend to remove the feeling of being able to do that, despite the ability to add people.

Creative servers are no longer FotM. If you want to be part of a large community, it seems that mini-game servers are the way to go.

  6. Legend just blew my mind. It's actually fact, mini games tend to attract more people though. Is there any way for mini games to be created for shade crest? Or that's just too much programming stuff.

We had it, and it wasn't as popular as you would think. Besides, they tend to add players to a server, but not members to a community; we prefer the latter.

    Topic:
Creative is dead, no two ways around it. It has been fighting with vanilla and hub for player count, nobody plays on it.

Good news though: nobody plays on it! That means you can get away with redo-ing the entire setup of the server, and there won't be players to get in the way. Seriously, really great opportunity the creative staff have here, they can take what worked well, drop what did not, and add tons of features extremely quick.
Aside from the lost-all-players bit, I would kill for a chance like this on survival!

Basically, don't think about how to revive our current creative server, but instead how our new creative server will look and feel. This doesn't mean you have to reset any maps, this is more configuration, permissions, ranks, and mechanics that run the server finally having a chance to be restructured.

And for f*cks sake, finally getting zPermissions actually on creative!

  8. I want to know how complicated that is. I'm intrigued now, I visited a server (as a Russian spy ) and they have Mob waves in this jungle temple looking thing and somehow the ability to have real time kills by players -- synced to signs else where. And literally have gear layouts that you can be equipped by pressing a stone button. Such as "Medic", "Assassin"," Ninja"," Chemist" etc. . And have announcements saying that it's starting in so and so amount of time to" /(warp name)" to join. As that being said, how complicated would that be to even create it on a server?

Another thing to consider is that we're in the middle of a school year, and a lot of players are busy at this time.

that seems more like a survival plugin to me honestly. on the topic of "creative revival" its kind of hard for us to get anything new implemented/done as the majority of our staff is in high school with social lives. We are open to suggestions, and may be looking for new dedicated staff members in the future. Honestly, I don't have a whole lot of motivation because past attempts at revival blew up terribly, however, we'd love to have more players and make the server fun once more.

The perms would probably take a while, judging from how annoyed Ez gets whenever something like this happens

Signs - probably a pluggin. Increase valueA when playerB performs actionC

Gear layouts - Not as complex as you might think. With command blocks, it's literally just give playerA itemB when buttonC is pressed.

Announcements - Again, command blocks and a timer. Although it's probably a dedicated pluggin for that server. I would imagine that all of their games start on a regular basis, which makes it a lot more simple.

And to expand upon us having our own minigames server. We once had a survival game server, but it relied on at least a half dozen people being online constantly for it to be any fun. If there weren't player numbers, then most people didn't even consider signing in.

Woah, gonna stop you guys right there; this thread is for the creative server, focus on that. Last time people "really REALLY wanted" another server, vanilla happened.

Creative periodically dies (it's done so at least three times in the 2.5ish years I've played it) and somehow comes back every time. I'll probably update/add plugins once I have more times and am more acclimated to my current classes/course load. But, as Legend has stated, getting more players online requires more players to be online. I have no idea how we got more players online in the past or revived the server from death before, it seemingly just happened.

That being said, you guys can stop by Creative any time. I'm online whenever I'm not doing homework or CS: GO and I'm a fun guy. Bring your friends online all at once or something to fix it.

  18. Quite literately; I'm in my 2nd year of college and $@*! really got real, I have sooo much reading to do and I HATE online exams, I can't concentrate properly. And yeah, since most of these players are in elementary/ high school, its a huge chunk of players gone. Hopefully in the summer things get back on track yet I will hopefully be getting a summer job to roll in $$$ \ I haven't seen the power of the command block, only seen videos of it. really cool. The ability to copy, paste, etc.. This year in November makes it my 3rd year, Im so old hahahaha

What if you had sort of Creative streams like divided into various villages with an underlying theme. Your plot could contribute to the overall town instead of standing alone. You could progress as normal through progressively larger plots but could also choose to start as guest in a different style. So you could for instance be Builder I in Medieval, Guest in Modern, Builder II in Fantasy. I feel that maybe contributing to a town would give a stronger sense of community instead of the current system. And if you hit a mental blockage in one style you can explore another.

Interesting idea, but it would require another overhaul of the entire server as a whole.

Would it work on ranks only being seen in that world? What if you're chatting to someone in a different world? Do you appear as your rank in world A, or world B?

Are the progressively larger plots all in the same world? like right next to each other in some sort of series of Fibonacci spirals?

Promotion however, I think I have an idea for. If staff would allow it, each world would have its own dedicated moderator, who is only mod for that world. These are the staff responsible for promotion in their world, in addendum to the admins. I.E. Curators like in the voxel box.

As I said though, is is a novel idea. It would help inject some creativity into how we run things as compared to other places (not saying they don't already have themed worlds).

I would recommend doing some more planning about this though if you want to see it become a reality. The people who previously did things like this are probably getting tired of it now.
