Proposal: Containers inside a town will be inaccessible to players not part of any town.

This would be a mid-tier protection that encourages players to join a town, for both free* protections and raiding other towns.

I don’t have much to say on this, it’s pretty simple.

    Making sure I understand:

Fred is in the town of Creeperbutt.
Mike is in the town of Zombietoe.
Flibbertigibbet is not in any town.

Fred can access the in-town chests of Mike and Flibbertigibbet, because he is in a town.
Mike can access the in-town chests of Fred and Flibbertigibbet, because he is in a town.
Flibbertigibbet cannot access the in-town chests of either, because he is a rogue citizen.

Close, but Flibbert would not have any in-town chests because he is not in a town and wouldn't have build permissions in a town.

And in case I was unclear to anyone, I'm talking about the physical location of a chest being in a town, not the owner being a member of a town.

I like this idea, I think it would be a good way to encourage people to become a part of a town, expanding for upkeep costs etc.

    No point in raiding then

If you join a town, this won't affect you.

So this will only affect new people

It will affect everyone who doesn't join a town and tries to raid a town.

I think it would increase the amount of players who are in towns for the two obvious reasons that this is being (possibly) implemented.
    1) To protect items from raiding
    2) To be able to raid other towns (since they are prime targets for everyone)

However, this means "rogue citizens" (like myself) will lose since they will no longer be able to raid towns. If this works as intended, most players will join towns and solo players will have very few targets at all. Is this necessarily a bad thing? Not really. While I personally do not want this I think it would be better for the server. It could increase the number of players in towns and possibly the number of players on the server in general, knowing that they can use towns as protection.

You both (Rem and Ralk) have been absent awhile, there are some other changes already in place that would allow raiding locked chests in towns possible - but it does rely on the players becoming inactive.

We have lockpicks now cost between 1500 and 5000 rupees and allow you to "break into" locked chests from players who have been (currently) inactive for 4 months. At some point, this time frame might be reduced. I have to imagine this could be applied to city chests as well.
