Starting tomorrow night I will be doing some map maintenance discussed in this thread.
The plan is to do this over a 3 night period. Here is the schedule
Removing diamond ore: 9/29/2011 Midnight to 9am EST.....done!
Removing gold + iron ore: 9/30/2011 Midnight to 5pm EST.....done!
During the times above server will be white-listed and no one will be able to get on.
It takes about 5 hours in McEdit to run one pass with our map, the rest of the time I am giving to myself for downloading/uploading the map back to the server.
Once each pass is done I will update this tread saying so.
I just want to get this done asap before the weekend.
If you have any questions, post them here.

That's right we have updated to 1.8! Feel free to update your clients!
Current Known Bugs
- mcmmo is disabled
- mod requests are disabled
- lottery is disabled
- On 1.7 map chests are turned around and lighted weird. This is a Minecraft bug and not a Bukkit bug, so we will have to wait until Mojang pushes a fix. Your items are still fine though.
Right now we are not going to add new maps and wait for 1.9 update because they will be adding new map features to that too, and we do not want to skip out on that.
For now we are going to regen the mining world using 1.8 map on September 28th this was you guys can still get to explore and play on a map with new features.

For those who did not realize this yet, we are now back on the server that we had purchased about a month ago that was giving us trouble. It has now been fixed! Long story short, we found the problem and replaced the motherboard.
You mc.shadecrest.com or server.shadecrest.com to connect to the server as usual, the DNS should have already been updated.

There is currently 6+ million rupies in the economy.
Everyone seems to like the idea of getting some of player's money that you kill. I think this will encourage rich to spend their money, and if they don't they will be targeted by other players. Eventually this should even things out so most players have close to the same amount of money, which means you can target almost anyone and get the same amount. Vote above for the % of the money that it should take.
I can see problem being with this, that rich players might decide to start camping on the peaceful side of the map, in that case maybe we should temporary enable PvP on the whole map, for income distribution?
I also want to raise town upkeep again for towns to force mayors to charge their players more for living in a town. 10r-20r tax per day is weak and does the server no good at draining money.

On a totally related, but unrelated note...
How do you guys feel about...

Upkeep taxes are now done based on size of the town as follows.
Base rate: 200 rupies

There are numerous threads on our forum with everyone wondering what will happen to our map when 1.8 patch comes out. I mostly have been absent from the discussion as I wasn't entirely sure and was still trying to decide what would be the best thing to do. I've spoken with other Admins and this is what we came up with.
When Minecraft 1.8 comes out we are going to separate PvP and Peaceful sides onto two different worlds. Thus two new maps will be generated that will have 1.8 features on them. This will be done so we can change PvP rules and fix some of the PvP issues we have been having. Each map will be half the size of the current one, meaning the borders will be set to 2500 instead of 5000 since each world will only need to accommodate half of the current map.
We will move the whole spawn onto the new Peaceful world map, and when you log on there will be portals for you to take to either PvP world or the old world (current map).
Once this is done everyone will be strongly...
