Since we are raising standards for new builders all the staff members including myself think that the plots we have now make our plot worlds look terrible.

This does not include all plots btw

    That, I can understand.

I'm just trying to avoid what happened last time we did the whole server reset thing. Aka, redoing a bunch of stuff which goes good for around a month before dying off again. After a while, it just creates a headache for whomever has to set up the new world perms.

I wouldn't worry about it causing a headache for staff, we are the ones who brought it up :) and if you're concerned about our server dying off "again" we currently have zero players on for the majority of the day, I really think revitalizing the server with new spaces to build is a good option, while keeping things that people want on the new server.

I'm just saying that we have to do something to get more traffic on creative, if we get going good for a month like you just said, maybe we can actually keep people this time. It's worth a shot...

  6. Thoughts on that:
    1. Will the builds in the plot worlds with Brick border be moved over to a section where they will be showcased for ideas?
    2. Should there be a /modreq to save the builds individually by request.
    3. I also agree to this new idea of the points. That's what makes the server become a strategy game and keep them coming back.
    4. Will players with current ranks be moved over or restart everyone?

    Exquisite ideas guys!

We can move over any builds that need to be moved over, but not all Brick border builds, also you will keep your rank!
The only thing that will affect you is that we will no longer have a Builder II rank. You will become a Builder and would have to build a new plot to become Apprentice

  8. No biggie, alright

  9. I like the idea of the players making their own terrain. I think the pre-made plots was like " Giving candy to a baby" for lack of a better phrase.

Like ndv said, you guys don't necessarily need to reset maps, the important thing is making the server welcoming to new players (quiz = bad, survey says), and giving existing players a reason to want to stay. Just as important is making it easy to manage from an administrative point.

I've made this offer before, but now the tutorial system is 95+% of where I wanted it to be, so if you guys want a tutorial, I can get you the code for it. Very simple configuration after that point.
Go for creating ranks from scratch so we can set creative up with zPermissions. (Reeeeeeally nice)
I'm glad to share any scripts I've made for survival, might be able to directly link them to creative

Besides that, up to creative admins to run with this :)

If you're looking to increase the general player base, it may be a good idea to add in a few unusual mechanics that aren't found in many other servers.

PlayEffect essentially allows particle effects to be 'placed' in the world.

(this is a video from the old plugin, no smoking)

Giant Trees allows players to 'grow' pre-made trees for their own use. Part of the definition of 'creative' means making things yourself, however it does allow younger and less creative players to still enjoy themselves and feel a sense of accomplishment.

Similar to the previous one, SketchMap also aims to the younger audience. It allows images found on the web to be converted into a 128x128 picture on the ground and links a map up to it.

Citizens allows npcs to be placed in the world who undergo certain tasks, allowing a choir to be perched on the balcony of a cathedral, sentinels to watch over from the tops of battlements, etc.

Citizens would be a good voteshop item if it can work that way. I've always wanted a way to populate creative builds.

Citizens has massive potential to be abused. Maybe they could be used as a votepoints thing? It would certainly save on all the horrible pumpkin/lever dummies.

Giant trees sounds like fun. It would also give an alternative to the 6 generic mc trees which all of us can make in our sleep.

The other 2 I'm not too fussed about. But I would recommend placing further suggestions and comments in the thread Bobby made.

  15. "what about the issue about players not finding a place to build in the terrain world?"<- will soon be a free for all (golden shovel stick hopefully). Will this mean most of the game will be plots galore?(except some ranks)

I am going to guess you were trying to reply to someone else, because I have no idea how that even remotely relates to my post. Frankly I'm not even sure what you are trying to say in the first place.

  17. I forgot who. But I mean the terrain world now, what is happening to it? The golden shovel with the stick if it is a freedom all. It's a form of protective "force field" that prevents grief. I'm really not thining of terms told today. I have a bunch of work to do.
